MEL DAVENPORT graduated from the University of Houston, Clear Lake (UHCL), Texas, with a Bachelors of Arts and Masters of Arts in Humanities, then worked with UHCL for five years teaching the Arts to Elementary Education majors. She recently retired from teaching Visual Arts to Texas high school students, but continues to teach Elementary Education majors at LeTourneau University, Longview, Texas.
Mel’s stories are inspirational and multicultural folktales for children. Her books are found in churches, schools, libraries, and museums. She researched the Lady’s story while on a college-level “learn as you travel” trip. She had recently lost her mother to Alzheimer’s disease, and this story touched her soul.
Mel Davenport is the author of the children’s book, “Consuelo and the Lady” and her soon-to-be released newest book, “My Part of the Sky”.
